In Home Puppy Training
Welcoming a new puppy into your home is exciting-but it can also come with challenges. Our certified dog trainers provide in-home puppy training designed to help you and your puppy start off on the right paw. We use only positive, force-free techniques-no shock collars, prong collars, or harsh corrections-so your puppy learns in a safe, supportive environment.
From house training and crate training to managing puppy biting, chewing, jumping, and early signs of fear or anxiety, we cover it all. We’ll also help you prevent future issues like resource guarding, reactivity, and separation anxiety by teaching your puppy healthy habits from the very beginning.
With customized training plans, hands-on coaching, and helpful videos for practice between lessons, you’ll have everything you need to raise a confident, well-mannered puppy. If you want to set your puppy up for lifelong success, our in-home program is the perfect place to start.
PUPPY TRAINING CURRICULUM
- Getting Started: We like to start training on your first lesson. You'll start off learning how to use a clicker, which treats work the best for your puppy, puppy checklist, do's and dont's, and how to start your foundation behaviors. We start with 4 then add more as you and your puppy progress.
- Basic Obedience Training: Learn over 10 essential cues such as: "Name", “Sit”, “Stay”, “Leave it”, “Recall”, “Drop it”, “Targeting”, “Fetch”, “Up & Off”, “Leash On & Leash Off”. Our certified puppy trainers have the knowledge and skills to teach you dozens of other beneficial behaviors.
- Loose Leash Walking: Learn force-free leash training techniques and exercises to prevent your puppy from pulling on the leash, barking at dogs, and lunging at people, ensuring a pleasant walk for both of your puppy.
- Advanced Puppy Training: As you and your puppy get better at training, we will add distractions, duration and distance to ensure your puppy can listen to you and your cues, no matter what is going on.
- Puppy Problem Behaviors Prevent or stop all problem behaviors like potty accidents, biting and nipping, chewing, separation anxiety, resource guarding, jumping, and reactivity. If you have 2 or more of these problems, try our 8 week course.
- Personalized Training Resources: Our puppy trainers will provide private videos and detailed training plans to guide you on the behaviors you and your puppy learn each week!
PUPPY TRAINING DETAILS
- We are fear-free positive reinforcement puppy trainers. We do not allow any of these tools in class: No prong collar, No shock collars, No martingale collars, No slip leads or choke chains and No horse whips! We also ask that you do not hit, scream, knee, pinch, or punch your puppy in our class or ever.
- Classes last for 1 hour and we hold 1 class per week for either 6 or 8 weeks.
- Equipment/Food Needed: You will need 1 clicker, 1 treat pouch, a regular leash, and a regular collar or harness. Please find a few types of treats your puppy loves and use that in class.
- In-home Puppy Training Service Area: We travel to Leonardtown, MD., Lexington Park, MD., California, MD., La Plata, MD., Waldorf, MD., Prince Frederick, MD., Lusby, MD., and surrounding cities. St. Mary's County, Calvert County, & Charles County, MD.
- Please do not feed your puppy before our at-home puppy training lesson. Doing so could result in stomach issues or it could cause your puppy to want to play more than train.
